Shane Cuthbert has completed various business, legal and human rights studies at Harvardx and the University of Queensland via edX. Shane is currently completing a bachelor of Laws and Psychology at Central Queensland University where he holds various positions and roles.
Shane Cuthbert is currently student mentor at Central Queensland University, Treasurer of the Social Innovation Network, member of the Law Society and is actively involved in the formation of the Labor Club. Whilst at Central Queensland University Shane Cuthbert has performed various roles such as Mindwaves Connector and has contributed to Socially Innovative Projects.
Psychology, Contract Law & Justice
Shane has completed 'Justice', Taught by lauded Harvard professor Michael Sandel, Justice explores classical and contemporary theories of justice, affirmative action, income distribution, same-sex marriage, human rights, property rights and equality. Principal readings for the course include texts by Aristotle, John Locke, Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, and John Rawls. Also, through a collaboration between Harvard University and edX, Shane Cuthbert completed additional studies in contract law, under Professor Charles Freid.
Through edX and the University of Queensland, Shane completed introductions to developmental, clinical and social psychologies whilst also completing research methods.
International Women's Health and Human Rights
Through collaboration with Standford University and online course delivery company Coursera, Shane Cuthbert completed this course under the direction of Anne Firth Murray. Anne has been teaching international womens health and human rights at Stanford University since 2001, writing for the United Nations Stanford, Yale and Oxford Universities on the subject.
Bachelor of science (psychology) and Bachelor of Laws Central queensland university
Shane Cuthbert began studying the Bachelor of Arts (Laws) majoring in Psychology whilst incarcerated at the Lotus Glen detention facility through Southern Queensland University however, Shane did not complete this course offering instead, commencing a Bachelor of Laws and Science (Psychology) with Central Queensland University.
Whilst at Central Queensland University, Shane Cuthbert has performed extra-curricular functions and roles such as MindWaves mental health connector, student mentor, student ambassador in collaboration with the ambassador platform, Treasurer of the Universities social innovation network and a member of the law society.
Domestic violence prevention
Extensive and critical Domestic Violence training is currently being offered in Victoria supporting the Victorian State Governments MARAM framework. The Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM) ensures services are effectively identifying, assessing and managing family violence risk.
Shane Cuthbert has also completed information sharing training, supported by the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and also the Department of Health.
Community assistance
As a Queensland Care Army volunteer, Shane Cuthbert was recently asked to undertake and complete training in Aged Care as part of the organisations continued support in this area.
Business
Shane Cuthbert completed a Certificate III in Micro Business Operations at Sydney Business in 2010 and later, a Certificate IV in Small Business Management through Mission Australia in 2013.
Landscaping & Construction
Shane Cuthbert has completed a Certificate III in landscape (construction) and also, a Certificate III in Irrigation, completed in 2013 through TAFE NSW Richmond campus.
