The Australian Certified Coaching Association provides the endorsement of your coaching skills that clients are looking for. As Australia’s premier certified coaching association representing professional coaches in various practice settings, the ACCA serves its members by offering them the resources they need to make a difference. From webinars, publications, and journals to Conference and workshop education sessions as well as legislative action alerts, the ACCA is where coaching professionals turn for powerful, credible content and support.
NOT JUST ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL BODY The ACCA has a national register for coaches and has been a premier association for coaching and coaches since 2018. Registration with such a professional body reflects a coaches willingness to demonstrate to the public a strong desire to be accountable. Registration is the only formal process that members of the public can rely on in relation to standards and accountability.
Therefore, if you are looking for a professional coaching association to join… then this is the one. The ACCA is a strong voice for professional coaches.
THE FUNCTIONS OF THE AUSTRALIAN CERTIFIED COACHING COMMITTEE INCLUDEoverseeing the registration of hypnotherapists, the development of the hypnotherapy profession standards, the handling of notifications and complaints in relation to its membership, and the assessment of overseas trained practitioners who wish to practise in Australia.
offering strategic leadership. As the governance body of the largest national coaching association in Australia, the ACCA Board has an important strategic leadership role. It is the body that, various federal and state Government departments and other national bodies turn to when seeking collective views of Australia’s professional coaches.
VOLUNTARY SELF REGULATIONThe Department of Health and Aging has actively encouraged associations to continue their work promoting the status of voluntary self-regulation (VSR) for the coaching profession. In this regard, the ACCA is currently participating, along with other professional bodies, in establishing a working group for coaching self-regulation.
The ACCA’s primary responsibility is for the ongoing registration of individual practitioners and setting the criteria for the validation of recognised training courses. The ACCA is proudly independent and does not have a direct relationship with any one particular teaching institution.
So what does that mean? It means that we evaluate our members by their academic output and not just because they have done a course by the school that has established an association just to accredit its own students. Therefore, if you are an Australian or International coach (or a school looking for a professional Association for your students) and wish to become a member please contact us. Simply click on the tabs at the top of this page 'Get Qualified' or 'Join Us' for more information.
ACCA members are trained, examined and sworn to maintain the highest standards and ethics. The Australian Certified Coaching Association’s membership includes: professional coaches, doctors, life coaches, addiction coaches, personal trainers, psychiatrists, anaesthetists, psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, and many other Health Care Professionals.
The Association is in complete agreement with the medical profession in its opposition to the type of ‘coach’ who makes wild and exaggerated claims. A coach who is a member of this association is governed by a code of ethics to take the deepest possible interest in every client, to be at all times conscientious, persevering, kind, patient, thorough and trustworthy and to treat all information acquired during the treatment as highly confidential. The coaching industry is growing at a rapid pace and salesman are selling many people the dream of becoming a coach overnight. The problem is that we now have many untrained, unqualified coaches treating serious mental health conditions, many unexperienced coaches claiming to perform magic miracles that simply do not help people.
ACCA MEMBERS HAVE WORKED WITH THOUSANDS OF CLIENTSOver the years the Australian Certified Coaching Association members have successfully worked with many thousands of clients who suffered from a multitude of conditions. Most of these clients consulted them only after they had been unable to obtain relief by other means.
The members of this association are specialists and provide a service quite distinct from that of a general medical practitioner or psychiatrist and are highly qualified in this specialised field.
Through professional and personal contacts with other national and international coaching associations, the ACCA encourages cooperative relationships with fellow professionals throughout the world.
