MATTHEW TICKNER
Cairns Regional Council Election 2024
The Cairns Regional Council Election will take place in 2024 and Shane Cuthbert is well placed, as a politically active member of the Cairns community to comment on the many Cairns Divisional candidates and Mayor position up for grabs.
Shane Cuthbert has attended MOST Cairns Regional Council General Meetings, Cairns Regional Council Planning and Environment Meetings and shares various networks with current and aspiring Cairns Councillors.
Matthew Tickner
Matthew Tickner was an early supporter of Division 4 candidate Shane Cuthbert, endorsing him for youth leadership in 2021, as a member of the Cairns Young Chamber.
Matthew Tickner is currently the Vice-President of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce and Managing Director of Progression Design & Development. Cairns Council Candidate Matthew Tickner is a well-regarded civil design and urban development specialist with a history of experience on urban development and civil engineering projects in Australia and New Zealand.
Division 2 Candidate Matthew Tickner recently attended a community forum in Edmonton, organised by fellow LNP member and Cairns LNP Candidate Yolande Entsch, where he was quite critical of current Division 2 Councillor Rob Pyne asking “where is he” referring to the former MP.
Being a councillor is a nice job and comes with a great pay packet but voters should consider carefully who they are voting for, and their motivations.
Journalists from this magazine reached out to Matthew Tickner, to provide him with an opportunity to share with the community, his plans for division 2 and introduce himself however, Matthew Tickner has ignored our offer and failed to attend meetings (he himself has organised with constituents, whom have requested his support) regarding a 24 hour gaming centre for troubled kids in the CBD. Where was he?
If Matthew Tickner is to be elected in 2024, he will need to work harder. Many councillors nominate themselves with the aim of creating positive change in the community but many rarely do, most nominate to boost their own public profiles and increase networking opportunities for lucrative council contracts.
